Who we are
About Cara McGuire, MSN, APRN, FNP-C/BC
Weight Loss and Hormone Therapy Specialist
With over two decades of experience in nursing and healthcare, Cara McGuire is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Weight Loss and Hormone Therapy. Her journey began in 2001, inspired by her father, an Army medic and one of the first male nurses after his service in Vietnam. Cara grew up in a large Irish/Polish family on the Southside of Chicago and pursued her initial nursing education at Moraine Valley Community College, where she earned her ADN.
After starting her career in the medical-surgical unit at Palos Community Hospital, she transitioned to the high-paced environment of a level one trauma ER at Advocate Christ Hospital. Cara then expanded her expertise by working at the University of Illinois outpatient clinics, Little Company of Mary Hospice, and as a Nurse Navigator.
Continuing her education, Cara earned her BSN, MSN, and Family Nurse Practitioner degrees at St. Xavier University in Chicago. She holds double board certifications from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed as a Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner.
After five years as a Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner, Cara shifted her focus to primary care, Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), and medical weight loss. Her passion for helping others achieve optimal health led her to open Windy City Weight Loss and T, where she empowers patients through effective, personalized weight loss and hormone therapy solutions.
Outside of her career, Cara cherishes time with her two wonderful daughters, her supportive husband, and their beloved Bernedoodle, Daisy.
